I've tried just about every method there is out there and there is only one I can recommend - NLP! It eliminates the cravings.
Gum patches and all the other just did not cut it for me, not to mention cold turkey which was the hardest, I even tried the electric cig and it is just no match to the real thing.
Check out this article:

it’s the one that got me off the cigs and smoke free for GOOD even without gaining weight! :)

Good luck kicking the habit!

Nicotine only stays in your bloodstream for a few days, but that is not what they are checking for in a life insurance test.

They test for cotinine. About 80 percent of nicotine is broken down to cotinine by enzymes in your liver. Cotinine can stay in your bloodstream for 6 to 8 MONTHS!!!!

If you want a clean test, I would recommend going to a health food store and finding products that will clean out your blood. Don't take the liquid one shot ones, cause they will cause your cholesterol to go through the roof. You need to get the ones that are at least a week taking daily pills, even though they are expensive.

After the test, cotinine and nicotine will get back into your bloodstream from fat being burned that held the nicotine. So you won't be clean for ever.
References :
All cigarettes cause damage to the human body. Hence, any smoking is dangerous. Cigarettes are the only legal product whose advertised and intended use - smoking - is known to harm the body and cause cancer.

Research has confirmed that even smoking as few as 1 to 4 cigarettes a day can lead to serious health outcomes, including an increased risk of heart disease and a greater chance of dying at a younger age.

Spit, oral, smokeless, chewing, and snuff tobacco, snus (sounds like "snoose") - a type of moist snuff first used in Sweden, smoking pipes or cigars, clove cigarettes (kreteks), bidis, hookahs, are all different forms of tobacco and are equally dangerous. Even if the health risks were smaller for some tobacco products as opposed to others, all tobacco products contain nicotine, which can lead to increased use and addiction. Do not think tobacco is safe in any amount or form.

Due to the unpleasantness of the withdrawal symptoms, many people who try to quit smoking end up replacing the cigarettes with some other type of addiction. This may be an addiction to prescription medication, such as sleeping tablets or tranquilizers, or an addiction to food. While you will definitely experience the health benefits of giving up nicotine, no one wants to replace one addiction with another!

A healthy diet, adequate exercise as well as natural and holistic treatments such as acupuncture, massage and herbal and homeopathic remedies can also help the smoker overcome nicotine addiction. Herbal and homeopathic treatments are a safe and effective means to reduce nicotine cravings (without giving you more nicotine) and will also help to prevent weight gain and alleviate anxiety and irritability. Basically, natural and holistic treatments not only lessen the urge to smoke, but also help you to restore balance in your body.

There are a number of ingredients such as Avena sativa, Garcinia cambogia and Gotu Cola (Centella asiatica) which will help to address the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. They reduce nicotine cravings and balance the mood.

Details on the above can be had here http://www.healthherbsandnutrition.com/remedies/s/smoking.htm
References :
It is not a good idea to take a flavored tobacco product while using the nicotine patch. You are increasing your dependence on nicotine and decreasing your chances of being tobacco/nicotine free. Breaking a nicotine dependence is hard to do. I think this site can help.
Yes they have patches with 7 mg, 14 mg and 21 mg strengths. At about half a pack a day you could probably start on a 14 mg patch. (it says on the box which one to start depending on what you smoke). They go on your skin and time release a certain amount of nicotine into your system for almost 24 hours. This helps you regulate the amount you take in and helps you step down to smaller doses to wean yourself. You should not smoke at all while using them. They also cost about 25- 50 dollars depending on the quantity and brand name of the box. (they usually come in 7 or 14 count packages) Some generics at wal-mart can be $20 for a 7 count box (1 week supply) and work just as well. It can add up if you take a while to quit. You don't need a prescription for it though. You just have to be 18. My major recommendation is the prescription Chantix. I've heard so many great things from my customers who tried everything else first. You can smoke the first week you are on it and it comes in a months supply starter kit and a month supply maintenence kit. Some light smokers can quit with the starter pack only. It's not suggested for people to go longer than 3 months to use it to quit. At that point the pill should no longer be needed. It's about $100 for a months supply and some insurance companies will cover it in full or a percentage. I definately think it works the best and plan to use it myself soon. I would suggest not drinking alcohol with it though since it seems to enhance the side effect of dreaming.
References :
Pharmacy technician

Yes it is safe to do...shisha contains minimal traces of nicotine and tar making it impossible to "overdose". Being around cigarettes might make you want to start up again, but smoking hookah shouldn't have any effect that will make you want to start smoking cigarettes again.
